Evolution of character names

One thing that takes too long for me when I'm starting a new project, is finding the characters names. Often, I throw in a 'place card' holder of a name, and as the story progresses, the names just sort of come to me. I think it's a personality and appearance thing. As the character develops, so does their entire being - which for me includes the names.

But for Time Glitch: A Saving Dystopia Story, the names changes so many times! I have loads of names that would be suitable, and loads of history associated with them, that I found it really hard to stick with the names. And some of them I hated, but they evolved into the right ones in the end.

I reached out to an online book club that I'm in, and asked who wanted to donate their name to my new project, and through that, I either chose the name, or a variation of the name! And it was the best thing ever. People gave me their names, or family members name as well as their nick names, which worked out even better! I even ended up using someones pet name, because it was Scottish, for one of my Scottish characters!
